The Pacific Plains region of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) recently awarded 78 recipients with the Silver Quill Award. The awards honor the best combination of words, creative concepts and strategic thinking in communications.
This year’s awards competition attracted approximately 156 entries from 10 states throughout the Pacific Plains Region of IABC. Professional communicators from across the nation judged the entries, all communications materials used in 2006. Entries were judged based on strategy, effectiveness and creativity.
“There are more than 2,500 communications professionals across the Pacific Plains Region who work diligently to help their businesses and organizations to achieve their strategic objectives,” said Barb Sanford, director of the IABC Pacific Plains Region. “The Pacific Plains Silver Quill Award was established to honor those communicators who are committed to excellence and to bettering our profession.”
Winners were honored in New Orleans at a special reception on June 25, held in conjunction with the IABC International Conference.
The annual Silver Quill Awards program is designed to help communicators:
- Demonstrate the value of strategic, quality communication to their management or clients.
- Build further credibility and support with their organization and clients.
- Get feedback from experienced communications professionals from IABC.
- Compete with the best from the Pacific, Mountains and Midwest states.
- Take a step towards accreditation. (Silver Quill entries can be a first step towards creating a portfolio of work needed for professional accreditation.)
“Silver Quill winners are the leaders in the communications industry,” said Kim Coulter, program chair of the Pacific Plains Silver Quill Awards. “Award winners and their entries serve as examples of a well planned communications campaigns and strategies. They have done the background work to make their project succeed in their work place. It ultimately helps their organization build awareness, loyalty and customer satisfaction in their products and materials.”
